What is GDPR?

GDPR stands for General Data Protections Regulation.

The General Data Protections Regulation (GDPR) are new rules designed to protect all personal data belonging to citizens within the EU. The GDPR was put in motion by The Council of the European Union, European Parliament, and European Commission in efforts to provide citizens with greater levels of transparency and control over their personal data, who has access to it, and how it is being used.

How does this affect users of SnapWidget?

In order to provide the services offered by SnapWidget we need to make use of certain cookies. Our complete cookie policy is available here.

Does SnapWidget collect any PII (Personally Identifiable Information) from visitors to your website if you use SnapWidget?

No, we specifically use an anonymous cookie for the analytics added to our widgets. This is also recommended by Google and explained here.

What other cookies are being set in the widgets and why?

  • __cfduid - Used by our Cloudflare, Content Delivery Network (CDN) to identify trusted web traffic. Read more here.

  • _ga - Registers a unique ID that is used to generate anonymous analytics data on how the visitor uses our website. Read more here.

  • _gid - Registers a unique ID that is used to generate anonymous analytics data on how the visitor uses our website. Read more here.

  • _ga_pro - This is only applicable to Pro widgets and allows us to offer you anonymous analytics about how your visitors are using your widgets.

Can these cookies be disabled?

Yes, all the cookies used in the widgets can be disabled except for the _cfuid cookie set by Cloudflare. To disable the analytics cookies, please contact us.

How do I notify my visitors that I'm using SnapWidget?

We've created some sample wording you can include in your privacy policy here. Please note that it is a very generic statement and might need to be tailored to fit your particular use of our service. We also recommend that you work with your own counsel to make sure that it addresses any concerns your business and customers might have.

How can I delete all my data on SnapWidget?

We would be sad to see you go, but won't ever stop you from deleting all the data we have stored for your account. To do this, follow the steps outlined here: How do I delete my SnapWidget account?
